Backpacks Totes Small Bags
handcrafted in britain – guaranteed for life
Wildish (previously BearMade) exists to challenge what it means to be a sustainable business.
Our bags are made in the UK using GOTS certified organic weatherproof dry-waxed cotton canvas and we only make 25 bags a week. That’s our capacity. We have no intention of exponential growth. We just want to make great bags, for awesome people, and have fun doing it.
Since we opened our bag & coffee shop in the Yorkshire dales in 2022 we've slowly started adding a few more things to our Wildish® range.
You won't find hundreds of different products here. Just a few things we use everyday.
Things for outside people.

Fantastic casual bag
I am very happy with my new Gouthwaite Backpack - 13-15L MKII. It feels very well made and functional, as well as beautiful! I also find the straps to be very comfortable, even with heavy loads. Highly recommended!
My review is for the Gouthwaite 13-15l Mark I, as I wanted to be sure of the long-time durability of the bag. I have had mine for 3 years now and it is the best backpack I have ever had: I use it daily for commuting and can fit my laptop, lunch, books, umbrella, water bottle and jumper in with still some space. I also take it as an overnight bag if packing lightly. It's comfortable and looks great (I have the gorgeous Rust colour) and I love the entire ethos behind Wildish - knowing that my bag is sustainably and fairly made is really wonderful. The material is lovely: I've waterproofed it once so far with the spray and it keeps even the heavy rain out. I can't recommend this highly enough - the only fiddly bit for me with the Mark I is the internal water bottle pocket, so in my opinion the Mark II with the external pocket looks like even more of an upgrade. I spent a long time initially hesitating about whether this bag would be right for me and I haven't regretted it for a second. A brilliant backpack!
A beautiful waxes canvas set of straps, and no plastic within them - but tough and goes perfectly with my matching orange Yorvik bag. They clip on and off easily and feel so solid with buttons instead of zips that can compromise and wear down quicker. It is so rare to find well-crafted and non-plastic addition to straps, for heavier loads - and knowing that the money spent goes to the development of Wildwish workshops, and the illuminating human beings that are Oz and Nell. These straps are robust and comfortable as the material moulds, like the bag, in shape to your own shoulders. I love these so much that I end up keeping them on all the time - and I find they help with easing friction which can occur if one is a cyclist like me: as the bag can sway from side to side, as any backpack can, when cycling. I haven't tested how quickly these dry during a rainshower, (in order to not have wet shoulders for a long time) but i'm sure living in Scotland and cycling daily will test this theory soon. The only other thing I am curious about, which I haven't yet tested, is putting the removable sternum/chest strap around them. I find the straps do not slip much, but it depends on the clothing material being worn next to them, too.
Superb quality
You can feel the love and quality of craftsmanship oozing from this backpack. The choice of materials is perfect, and thus will last for years, but the bag isn’t overly heavy given the hardcore thick duty cotton and buckle. This size is perfect for my use as a daily work bag, you wouldn’t want anything bigger, unless you’re taking a change of clothes - but even then it may be big enough. You could possibly get away using it for an overnight stop, but for any longer trips you would be better off with the bigger pack.
It has only one space apart from a little slip pocket which I like but this something you should be aware of. If you are prone to losing items at the bottom of your bags, do consider the lighter coloured pack making for better visibility within.
All in all, a wonderfully minimalist pack which is very capable, and flies under the radar. 5 star product.
Very happy
Very happy with this bag !
Very high quality manufacture, fast delivery.
It looks like it will last for years !
We are big Wildish fans and love the enamel range- it looks beautiful and is wonderfully practical!
I’ve been looking for a quality, hard wearing yet stylish and timeless bucket bag and found it! The Beck is very comfortable to wear across my body, even when loaded with my shopping. I use it in town or walking through fields to my local shops. I love it so much I’ll be buying the yellow version too. Well done Wildish for a fab bag.
We love our gouthwaite backpacks! We have backpacked a lot in Alaska in Hawaii and are really impressed with the quality stitching and material use in these backpacks. We plan on using them in Portugal this spring, and look forward to taking them on the trip.
Bought the smaller one as a gift and the other for myself. Both of us really pleased with our backpacks
I've owned far too many bags and packs over the years and very rarely write reviews, but the Jorvik backpack absolutely deserves one. I’ve had mine for a couple of months and used it for commuting, weekend trips and a bit of light hiking. It’s a quality item: well designed, made with great pride, and built from exceptional materials. The canvas is wonderfully rugged, is definitely waterproof, and looks fantastic in the black I bought. The straps are very comfortable even with a heavy load and the pack is a great size, with enough room for a winter long weekend if you travel light. Despite its size the pack keeps a low profile, which I really like as it looks great. The buckle lives up to the hype, working brilliantly even wearing gloves, and the internal and external pockets are cleverly located and well sized. The back padding is very comfortable, forms nicely to your back, and breathes better than synthetic alternatives.
I spent literally months deciding whether to buy this backpack and I‘m so pleased I finally did. It’s now a faithful companion and its quality means it will undoubtedly remain a so for many years to come. Worth every penny.
I purchased this specific bag because I liked the look of the versatility. There’s a pleasing simplicity to its conception.
It is quite small, but for a grab and go bag it’s very user friendly and has a nice finish to the material. Enjoying it very much so far! Well done Wildish!
